Growth Opportunities at USHG - 1/7/2015

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

We are so excited about the ways growth will advance our culture in 2015!

We are committed to supporting the growth and development of our people and one of the ways we can offer career advancement opportunities is through our business growth and expansion.  We are excited to share that in addition to the Porchlight opening planned for mid February, we also have two additional businesses opening early this year.  We will be hosting Info Sessions for those that are interested in learning more about the concepts and the opportunities available.

Untitled and Studio Cafe at the Whitney

Wrecently announced that Mike Anthony, Executive Chef/Managing Partner at Gramercy Tavern, has been promoted to the Executive Chef and Director of Operations for Untitled and Studio Cafe at the new Whitney project downtown. Mike is in the process of building out the new team and is eager to meet with anyone within the USHG family who is looking to grow to share more about the concept. If you are interested, please join us for one of a few Info Sessions at the Home Office on Thursday, January 29th at 3pm and Wednesday, February 11th at 9am or 4am to learn more. RSVP here for one of those sessions. 

Union Square Events (USE)

Union Square Events (USE) is expanding their operations to Chicago to create a premier catering venue, as well as to operate a restaurant and bar.  If you’re considering a move to Chicago and also looking for growth opportunities, USE is looking for great internal candidates and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the concepts with you.  We will be hosting Info Sessions at the Home Office on Monday, January 19th at 10am or 5pm and Wednesday, February 11th at 10am or 5pm.  RSVP here for one of these sessions.

Process for Internal Candidates:

ALL internal USHG applicants will receive an opportunity to interview for positions for which they submit applications. We are beginning to post positions internally and expect to have all management positions posted by the middle of January and all hourly positions posted by the middle of February.  Once we have the manager positions filled, we will be hosting Career Fairs to hire our hourly employees - so stay tuned for news!

If you ever see a USHG position that you are interested in applying for, please let your People Manager know and then complete the online application. Candidates who pass the first round of interviews will have their People Managers serve as “reference checks.”  Candidates who are not extended a job offer will also have the opportunity to sit down with us to learn more about why and what resources are available to them to strengthen their candidacy for future opportunities. 

USHG Career Coaching

If you are reading all of these exciting opportunities but not really sure how to consider or evaluate the options relative to your own career path—we are also launching a Career Coach program!  Beginning later this month, Gretchen Garry, our Associate Director of Career Development, will be scheduling weekly “Coaching Hours” in the Home Office.   She will be sending out an email shortly to introduce the program and to invite you to sign up if you are interested.
